Pittsburgh is the city that could. When someone wants to try something – like putting together a quality music festival, in the heart of downtown with world-class talent and offer it up to the lucky people for FREE – well Pittsburgh is pretty great at making it happen. And when you have someone like Janis Burley Wilson, VP at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and head of the Pittsburgh Jazzlive Festival planning it- well it is going to be great.
For 3 days in June, the Pittsburgh Jazzlive Festival offers up events, meet and greets, bourbon tastings and jam sessions that will make an avid music lover’s heart go pitter pat.
The main stages are free performances but I urge you to make the VIP donation to take advantage of some of the exclusive events and the lounge areas and free food and drink on offer. Bring a chair, an umbrella, and check out our Grown Up Guide To Music Festivals for some tips on how to make the most of your experience.
We brought our kids, many people had their well behaved dogs on leashes with them and it is a chilled out an welcoming atmosphere. There is a great Night Market and a beer tent with sampling from local microbrews. Really, with all that, if you have a bad time it’s on you.
