you should know by the hot pink chairs and the fun tiles outside Azucar Ice Cream Company that this place does not take itself very seriously. Nor should it. It is an ice cream shoppe – it isn’t serious, it is FUN.
From the Guayabera shirt upholstered benches (covered in plastic just like Abuela’s) to the colorful decor this place makes a point of not taking itself seriously. But the flavors and quality of the ice cream made and sold here? Super serious.
We visited as part of the Miami Culinary Tour of Little Havana and one of the best benefits of that is we got to taste as many flavors as we wanted. The big problem with that is it was so hard to decide which one to commit to for a full cup. No matter which one we got we knew we might be looking with envy at another. Abuela Maria is a signature flavor and a good choice – I got mango and it was as though the mango tree had been frozen and churned and put in my cup. Yum.
Go, taste…and remember why ice cream always makes us feel like a happy 8 year old.
