Cheeca Lodge & Spa Islamorada, Florida, United-states

Halfway between Miami and Key West (Mile Marker 82), the real name of this place is "heaven"

Nestled on the shores where the Atlantic meets the Gulf, this gorgeous resort is more renowned as a premier fishing lodge, but is quite simply a prefect escape. Family friendly (though more than enough romance for a couples getaway) with a variety of accommodations to suit your circumstances. We stayed in a deluxe oceanfront room with an outdoor soaking tub and we believe that all other hotel rooms from here forward will only be competing for second place, it was that good.

Activities abound with fishing (of course), beachcombing, golf, tennis, pools and non-motorized watercraft available on the beach. We took a kayak out each morning of our stay and explored the mangroves near the resort, even spotting a pack of rays swimming happily under us. The spa is lovely with an island flair to its services (I had a hot shell massage and it was divine) and its dedicated pool makes it an even more worthwhile venture.

In short, this place is heaven.
