I always get so excited when the hoomans say we’re headed to Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma! If you’re driving from San Francisco, the drive is super a beautiful and scenic 30 minutes. I roll down the window, sometimes all by myself, and stick my head out to enjoy the fresh breeze. You will cross the Golden Gate Bridge and go through Marin where there are winding hills, beautiful homes and great photo opportunities.
Lagunitas is extremely dog friendly, there is even a dog on their logo! Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcome. There is grass to play and delicious food to, um, beg for. They always have fabulous live entertainment, so check out their website to see who is playing and when. If you go on a weekend, tables tend to fill up fast, especially on a gorgeous summer day. The tasting room is set up restaurant style. If you have a large party, there are plenty of seats and large tables to take over.
If you like craft beer, this is the place. They have tons of offerings, including their usual favorites, as well as a few seasonal and exclusive beers. If you’re not a beer person, don’t stress, there is also wine! You’re also in wine country so you know you’ll be in good hands. There are tons of delicious appetizers and entrees to share. I recommend ordering a bunch of things and passing them around family-style. All of their food is delicious, but I recommend the homemade pretzels. My mom eats pretzels like it’s going out of style and I am also a huge fan.
You can also take a brewery tour! Tours go all day so you can definitely make one no matter what time you go. It’s always fun to see how their beer is made.
This is a perfect way to get out of “the city” and spend an afternoon. Life slows down a little bit and you can relax and enjoy those around you.
