The Ultimate in Scottish Luxury & Beauty.
Overlooking Loch (lake) Lomond, my favourite national park, Cameron House is a luxury hotel which boasts a golf course, two restaurants, leisure/spa facilities a huge bar with portraits of great Scots. The hotel is luxurious, as epitomized by the friendly doorman in full Scottish dress, as are the surrounding lodges.
It’s the ideal place to spend a relaxing weekend and must for visitors to Scotland. As you’d expect, from somewhere that’s accommodate the likes of Bill Clinton and Michael Jackson, it’s a pricey place to stay. And if you’re looking to splash the boat out why not arrive in style via sea plane, or take a flight over the loch (the plan takes off from right outside).
Don’t worry if your budget won’t stretch to an overnight, you can still enjoy the facilities. Whether it’s an afternoon walk followed by some tea and scones, a few pints in the bar (ideal for when it rains – which being Scotland it often does), or dinner in one of the restaurants.
That said not all aspects are worth of 5* status. The fine dining restaurant is good, but not great, the swimming pool is adequate, but dated by modern luxury standards and we got kicked out of our lodge promptly at 11am by an overly officious staff. But to be honest the stunning surrounding and sheer character of the place make up for any shortcomings.
