Heaven is London’s largest gay club (since merging with G.A.Y. when it closed a few years ago). It’s attracts younger guys (18-25 yos) and a few older admirers. The first thing you need to be aware of is that queues on Saturday nights are horrendous, so you either need to get there early (by 11), unless you’re on the guest list; or failing that slip someone at the front of the queue £10 to stand beside them. Given the crowd the entrance fee and drinks are cheaper than most other London clubs – and you can get discounted entry arm bands on at GAY bar in old Compton Street from the PR boys.
Unlike most gay clubs in London, Heaven is alcohol rather than drug orientated and as such expect a drunk rather than high crowd. It’s got a few rooms with different types of music. But whilst you can get dance and r and b it’s predominately a pop club. The main room usually has famous performers on Saturday (and very occasionally top names – although expect an impossible queue).
Thursday nights are a bit quieter, so no crazy queues and there’s an amateur strip contest – with a few sexy plants to make sure it’s interesting.
