Magical garden at night, amazing swimming pool by day

We are currently living in Bangkok and were in the look out for a quick week-end get-away, within a 2 hour drive. Hua Hin was top of the list when asking the locals for recommendations. We were late with our reservation and ended up booking the day prior to leaving for the week-end and thus needed to get the upgraded Club rooms. We were so happy we did. Upon arrival, the room wasn’t ready, but they offered us changing rooms so we could start enjoying the pool and beach right away. We were also escorted to the Club room where light finger food was available and we could enjoy sitting in the terrace with a view to the beach. We enjoyed the afternoon by the pool side. I must say, in general I’m not a big fan of pools, however, this one really deserves a special mention. It has fun fountains for the kids to play in. The children’s area is physically split from the deeper swimming area, but still offers enough room and doesn’t feel like a space intended to just soak your feet in (many kids’ pools do!). The gardens around the pool are beautiful with plenty of green and colorful flowers to enjoy. Prior to heading out for dinner, we returned to the Club where cocktails and wine are offered free of charge until 7:30pm. After our pit stop there, we enjoyed the traditional Thai buffet outside in the garden area (which was lit in such a way that resembled a magical scene from a Disney movie). Traditional Thai live music and dance provided entertainment. Breakfast for Club members is offered in a beautiful setting and the spread has everything from Western (pancakes, French toast, any style omelettes) to Eastern (sushi, dim sum) favorites. The kids were keen on checking out the kids’ club right after and that offered us a couple of hours to enjoy the beach side massages. We had the chance to check out Hua Hin which is only a 10-15 min. drive from the resort. It’s a touristy town with a nice laid-back atmosphere to it. We highly recommend having dinner in one of the elevated restaurants on the peers, over the water. Great quality and value and a great experience overall. We very much enjoyed our week-end in Hua Hin and particularly our time at Dusit Thani.
