Eataly Milan, Lombardy, Italy

Imagine Apple opened an Italian food & wine store & you'd have Eataly. Perfetto!

It’s not often a shop is worthy of a review on a site like this, but Eataly is truly sensational. I visited the their flagship store in Milan, there’s a few others throughout Italy and in other major cities. Located in the centre of town the outside of the building is striking with its large glass cube facade.

Inside there’s three giant floor, all spaciously proportioned, which stock all the Italian food and drink you could ever want. It’s got extensive authentic ranges of pasta, chocolate, meats, olive oil, canned goods and many more. And there’s a whole floor just for wine. (The wine I got, all fairly cheap, was amongst the best I’ve ever had).

Moreover throughout the store there’s several small restaurants throughout which charge mall food court prices, but serve gourmet standard food. So definitely plan to eat there too. Moreover there’s a cookery school which runs classes for adults and children; I saw one of the latter in action and the kids were all having a ball.

Piazza Cinque Giornate, 1, Milano, Italy

I noticed Eataly Milan was featured in Retail Week magazine (a trade journal) as their store of the month. So even the experts have recognised it's excellence.
