I happened upon this gem of a boutique hotel when I was searching something different from the CP-Style hotel that wasn’t quite cutting it for me in Saskatoon. I struck gold when I happened upon their website – booked a room, and found what I consider to be one of the best-run and best-appointed boutique hotels in Canada.
Rooms go from cozy to grand one-bedroom or studio suites (or if you’re feeling particularly posh, spring for thepenthouse) but all are done in a slick modern decor in muted grey tones, with many rooms having hardwood flooring and balconies (the building is a converted condominium complex). The hotel is situated across the street from the skating rink and steps away from the river valley and its beautiful riverwalk pathways – delightful in both summer and winter.
The highlight of the rooms are the beds. Many of my friends have heard me wax poetic about the sheets. I won’t give away their secret but suffice to say enough people have had enough skin-to-sheet satisfaction on the fabric from heaven that they now sell sheet sets at the front desk.
The staff are also wonderful – all incredibly gracious with attention to detail. The rooms are spotless. Bar service is wonderful from the ladies at the hotel lounge. The fireplace and marble detail are gorgeous in the winter, and the mojitos have been had aplenty by yours truly in the summer.
Room rates include a hot breakfast in their European-style dining room (The Odessa Room) – in addition to the varied buffet, you also get a featured entree which has included Eggs Benedict to suit or Pancakes with your choice of fillings. Absolutely divine. Turndown service is recommended – you’ll likely get a perfect amuse-bouche of a delectable dessert to sweeten up your bedtime…although you’ll likely be kept very happy by those sheets.
