Butchart Gardens Victoria, British-columbia, Canada

No matter how many times you go, it is different, and like a little bit of gardening magic.

I cannot grow anything.  I have tried.  Ferns, orchids, fig trees, whatever…all ends of dead.  I think that there may be a WANTED poster of me at our local nursery put there by Plant Protective Services.  And it is sad.  Very, very sad – because I love flowers and gardens and would like nothing better than to have a swoon worthy garden.  Alas it is not meant to be and I have to get my fix when we visit Vancouver Island and head to Butchart Gardens.

The gardens were a labour of love started over a century ago by Jenny Butchart.  The first part was the Sunken Garden built in an abandoned stone quarry.  There have been Italian, English, Japanese Gardens added since along with plantings from all over the world.  They host many events at the gardens and it is really worth seeing in every season.
