Hotel Selkirk Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

A relocated and refurbished 1920's hotel in the heart of a historical park. So cool we had a wedding there.

Full disclosure, I got married here.  I don’t think it’s cool because I got married here, I got married here because I thought it was so cool.  I had a THEME wedding because I thought this place was so cool and kind of demanded a theme wedding.

This is a 30 room hotel that is in the middle of Fort Edmonton Park, also a must see.  The entire park is devoted to preserving the architectural and cultural history of the City of Edmonton from the time of the fur trade to the 1920’s.

The Hotel Selkirk is a perfect replica, using some of the original components, like the long bar of the original Hotel Selkirk that used to be in downtown Edmonton.  The long bar, was, in fact the longest bar in Canada.  At a time when only men were allowed in bars.

The rooms are true to the period and even come with a vintage teddy bear for the little ones.  Staying in the hotel includes park admission which allows you to experience the joy of the park right after breakfast.  The hotel is located in the river valley which boasts an extensive pathway system – you can canoe or cycle right from the property.
