What Your Mama REALLY Wants for Mother’s Day

What Your Mama Really Wants for Mother’s Day

Don’t get us wrong, there are few moms out there who don’t love mimosas in their honor and flowers at the breakfast table, but when it comes to what makes her heart go pitter patter, it usually isn’t the runny eggs and flaccid bacon she’ll find at most Mother’s Day restaurant brunch buffets. We went straight to our contributors and asked for their best ideas for their moms or what they wanted for themselves, since this group is anything but boring.

Christina Moore: Coconuts, Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA. This Florida native loves a good waterfront restaurant like nobody’s business and intracoastal staple is a favorite of both tourists and locals alike.

Kristin Garcia: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Lake Buena Vista, FL, USA. A Disney girl to her core, Kristin wants to celebrate her special day waking up in a semi-safari and enjoying a glorious day in her home away from home.

Aimee DiAndrea: Rose’s Luxury, Washington, DC, USA. Called “the best new restaurant in the country”, Aimee says that although the wait can be long here (they do not take reservations), you and your mom will be in foodie heaven with this focused and inventive menu.

Genevieve Anderson: High Park, Toronto, Ontario, CA. Ever the adventurer and romantic at heart, our Genevieve suggests a picnic lunch from nearby Cheese Boutique and treating your mama to a gorgeous day enjoying the sunshine and cherry blossoms, which peak right around Mother’s Day each spring.

Coco Sidecar: Fontainebleau, Miami Beach, FL USA. This haute mama loves her babies, but on Mother’s Day wants to enjoy time with grownups without someone needing their meat cut up for them.

Jennifer McNamara: Bouchon Bistro Yountville, Yountville, CA, USA. Keep your sad, day-old pastries with your overpriced and overcrowded Mother’s Day brunch and send this girl to Thomas Keller’s bistro-style Napa Valley outpost.

Henri: Jane, San Francisco, CA, USA. Our intrepid, four-legged contributor plans to spoil his hooman on Mother’s Day at her favorite breakfast spot, Jane, in San Francisco’s Fillmore district followed by a trip to the park. While we’re sure Jane is most definitely for his mama, we’re certain that going to the park was not an entirely selfless choice for Henri.

Katherine Florence: Enjoy Centre, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. Spend the day enjoying exquisite flowers and plants while exploring a variety of gorgeous local business.
