It shows up in every movie about Seattle, it’s sign is iconic. The Pike Place Market is Seattle. And it has to be part of your Seattle.
Yes it is a common tourist destination, and it smells a bit (or a lot) but it is an amazing hub of commerce, multiculturalism and foodie fun. Not only can you witness the famous fish throwing antics of the t-shirt clad hotties of the Pike Place Fish Market, there is a store for everything. One that is all cheese, one that just does honey and one that is just hot sauce . Of course next to the hot sauce store is the strangest restroom sign I have ever seen. I am not sure if the two are related but the exploding baby might have gotten in to the Scotch Bonnet Chutney.
The Pike Place Market are is home to a bunch of great little kiosks, restaurants and bars and you can sample all sorts of goodies while you wander. Whether its the original Starbucks, Piroshky-Piroshky, Pike Place Chowder or the Pike Place Fish Market there is no other place where you can get such a sense of Seattle and its diverse nature.
