First off, this is East Nashville. You’re a few miles away from the tourist-trap of Broadway – and that ain’t a bad thing.
Directly across the street from another Nashville staple, Mas Tacos, sits The Pharmacy. It’s a biergarten, and a gorgeous one at that. When you arrive, you’ll enter into an indoor bar/seating area that almost feels like an uber-clean bungalow. Immediately, you’re drawn to the light of the backyard beer garden. And yes, you should follow the light.
I’ve been here four times, and I’ve yet to sit inside (Yes, the outside is that cool). Whether it be the middle of summer or the most pleasant fall day, the Beer Garden has a certain charm to it – picnic tables, picnic baskets with your typical condiments, and an outdoor bar all make for a super cool “day-date” spot.
The beer list rotates with a few local brews, along with a slew of craft beers. There’s a killer local pilsner that’s perfect for summer. Order it.
You’re here for the burger, and so was I. In the four times I’ve returned, I’ve stuck to the the classic: “The Pharmacy Burger ($7).” It’s a larger burger (when compared to most restaurant servings), topped with cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, onion, pickle, and yellow mustard. Classic.
Equally as good as the burger is the service – I’ve never waited longer than ten minutes for my order. Friendly, fast, and affordable. You should make this a part of your travel plans next time you’re around Nashville – come for the burger, stay for the beers and beautiful location.
I’ve got a fever, and the prescription can only be filled by The Pharmacy.
See ya soon.
