This place is a dilapidated shack on the side of the road about 10 minutes outside of the Historic District. There is a giant mural of matriarch of Martha Lou’s painted on the side. As you enter into the “dining room” that seats maybe 25 people, with mismatched chairs and a liberal dose of the pink used on the outside brought indoors – you may be greeted by the octogenarian Martha Lou herself.
The menu is a simple affair with daily specials and old favorites. But here is the thing; Get the fried chicken. Any sides they have are good – so pick things that sound interesting. But get the fried chicken. The other stuff is tasty too but get the friend chicken – no foolin’.
Service is friendly and boisterous and they used to be cash only but now they take cards.
