Everyone thinks Andy Warhol is from New York. He is not. He is from Pittsburgh and that is why the Warhol Museum, standing 5 stories high makes its home on the North Side of the City. Next to the Stadiums of Pittsburgh’s iconic sports teams is the home to this other icon’s work. You can see Andy’s films, art, experiments in taxidermy and his time capsules on exhibit. Kids love to go to the Silver Clouds exhibit room and plant themselves among the drifting balloons. Hell, I like to go to the Silver Clouds room and do that too.
The museum also acts as host to the touring exhibits of other contemporary artists such as Shepard Fairey.
The story of Warhol is complex and interesting, his life a performance piece in and of itself.
