Ellen’s Stardust Diner New-york-city, New-york, United-states

It's cheestastic -a delicious, raucous purgatory of Broadway hopefuls.

Right off Times Square is a long standing, frolic of a diner where the waiters sing while you supper.  These are folks who have starred on Broadway, off Broadway and now off off Broadway. While they wait for their hopeful return to the Great White Way they still gotta eat, and pay for tap lessons, so in the meantime they wait on you too.  The food is solid and tasty and they have mashed potatoes and mac n cheese served in bacon bowls. Served. In. Bacon. Bowls.

The drinks are strong, slightly strange and expensive. I should have had a milkshake.  Burgers are good but the whole thing of the staff breaking out into impromptu solos, duets and ensemble numbers is the reason to be there. My kids loved it. And my secret shame is, so did we.  Go early (like 5 pm) to avoid the pre theater dinner crowd line up.  It starts filling up rapidly at 5:30.  Check out the headshots on the wall for future stars and bring CASH for the tip bucket.
