I would find it hard to believe if this spot wasn’t crawling with tourists during season but since I visited Chicago in February with my son to scope out colleges that was not the case. We stopped in here simply because we were hungry and it was across the street from the park were we had been walking and photographing. What a pleasant surprise! What appeared to be a neighborhood bar and burger place turned out to be a great spot for a drink with friends or for foodies looking for lunch. We sat at the bar, which seemed very well equipped, and I asked for the wine list. The selections by the glass were much nicer than what I’m used to in south Florida, and reasonably priced. After deciding on a glass of wine I looked over to the food selections and was again surprised having spotted unusual creations like….a Rabbit salad? Roasted elk? I chose the hangar steak salad which wound up being a delicious hangar steak accompanied by a deconstructed chopped salad. Excellent! My son’s chicken soup was a homemade stock with chicken, veggies and orzo. Fantastic!
The gage was a bit noisy but nothing unmanageable, it is a bar after all. Overall the ambience is lively and fun. The staff was very friendly as well. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Chicago.
