If you can judge by the hundreds of foreign currency bills posted to the wall behind the bar, people come here from all over. And there is a reason; this bar boasts live music nightly that epitomizes the gritty, raw sound of Chicago blues. The first night we went, we slipped into the dark, packed space out of the cold Chicago night and there was an ancient looking woman – a little short on teeth and wearing yellow spandex leggings, belting out the Staple Singers “I’ll Take You There…” Boom.
Frankly at that point it didn’t matter what else happened but every song was a grooving example of exactly what we were looking to hear on a cold night in Chicago. Hell, I am thinking it might have actually been one of the Staples sisters belting it out….you never know.
