A lovely and comfortable resort in a beautiful location, Disney’s Port Orleans-French Quarter Resort is a moderate-level resort with all of the benefits of staying on Disney property (extra time in the parks, complimentary transportation to theme parks, etc.). Rooms are large enough to fit a small family well with two queen beds and double sinks. The resort itself is one of the smallest on Disney property and that makes for a welcome change of pace after spending your days in crowded theme parks and other attractions. There is a large food court with standard fare and the lounge features a piano player and karaoke on certain nights (I rolled my eyes too at the karaoke at first, but let me tell you, the people we saw could sing and it made it a fun interlude before we returned to our room for the evening instead of the typical drunken mess that is usually karaoke.
The resort pool features a serpent-themed (complete with a larger than life King Neptune, I kid you not) waterslide that is just the right size for kids, and even some of the more intrepid adults. The recreational area also has a hot tub, a shallow splash pool for smaller children, a playground and an outdoor bar.
There is complimentary bus transportation to all Disney theme parks and attractions as well as pontoon boat transportation to this hotel’s sister property, Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside as well as the Downtown Disney shopping area.
While not considered a deluxe property, the Port Orleans sisters are a solidly-comfortable and more budget-friendly option for Disney World travelers who still want to experience the magic without spending a small fortune.
