If you want a straight up traditional Cuban sandwich in Miami, no frou frou, no “reimagining” or nonsense then go to El Pub. They have been making Cuban sandwiches in the traditional style for generations. In fact, there is a guy who has the dedicated job of standing at the central sandwich station to make Cubans all day.
I suggest you get a stool at the counter so you can order your own food and watch them being made – it is a bit of a system.
The traditional Cuban recipes alleged to have been brought from Cuba by the family and used to make the Cuband fare served here have been decoupaged to the walls in various spots. Bring an appetite and brush up on your Spanish because in Little Havana, it’t the first language. Even being able to say please and thank you go a long way.
