Oh, Sardelli’s how I wish I could dine at your beautiful tables multiple times a week. I have heard of your delicious food for years but had never ventured to your doors. For shame.
The experience begins when you arrive at the door of what looks like a private residence located near the beach in Hollywood. It’s multiple floors have been lovingly redone into a beautiful restaurant. You walk in the front door on the main dining level and are greeted warmly by the hostess who is working this particular evening, side by side with the Chef and Owner Fulvio Sardelli Jr’s mother. I mean how fun is that Mrs. Sardelli or “Ma” as you hear Chef Fulvio call her welcomed us with a warm smile? We were waiting for guests so we took seats at the bar where we could enjoy an unobstructed view of the kitchen. The charming bartender Jamie presented us with a wine list of over 400 options from their cellar. We decided to enjoy a mixed drink before our meal and while we waited. The atmosphere is tastefully decorated but still leaves you with a cozy feel. That may be as a result of seeing this family lovingly hand roll gnocchi in the kitchen.
Our guests arrived and we moved to a table for 8 in the main dining area. We were introduced to our waiter who presented us with list of the evening specials. He was so knowledgeable and helped each a everyone of us make a personal selection. We all decided to order multiple starters to share which was a great decision as the menu has so many things you’ll want to try. We had an order of meatballs with a side of cool ricotta that were mouth watering and the sweet and spicy shrimp with shaved red onion, cilantro and habanero jelly, which are to be highly recommended. For myself I decided to have the Yellow Tail Franchese over potato puree and wilted greens. Mouth watering; it was pure perfection. Since hubs was next to me I was quite happy to taste his 20 oz bone in NY Strip with a side of Pasta Carbonara. His steak was cooked exactly to order and I have to say the pasta was so tasty I may have had more then just a bite. Chef Fulvio is ever present in the restaurant, making the rounds when he is not in the kitchen to say hello, check on the guests and truly make you feel you are at home in his restaurant.
