Situated between I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike in South Florida, Butterfly World is a beautiful and novel escape from the typical tourist attractions that dot the landscape. Featuring a working butterfly lab, about a zillion butterflies and several aviaries, Butterfly World will keep your group entertained and engaged for long enough to feel like your admission total was worth it and then some. The facility also has a Bug Zoo (yes, you read that right. Most are alive and in tanks, but there are a few spiders that roam freely…I am not joking) as well as a Butterfly Museum (preserved specimens). And if you a dying to be up close and personal with some of the tropical birds you see, there is a Lorikeet Encounter space where you can buy nectar and the birds will land on you to get to it. I am not a bird lover, so it always seems a bit like a avian Hunger Games to me in there, but everyone else appears to enjoy it, especially the children.
There are two small cafes with snacks and other treats available for purchase as well as a comprehensive gift shop and garden center featuring butterfly-friendly plants.
