Old Ebbitt Grill has been a Washington fixture for over 100 years. Don’t let the fact that tourists make this one of their preferred dining stops when they are in DC scare you off. In fact, it is a testament to the tasty food and excellent service this dining room offers. We went there as part of our lunch break in a day of walking tours and sightseeing. The restaurant is readily accessible to the National Mall and all the monuments. The burger was outstanding and my wife had a transformative Steak Frites with bechamel. Cocktails and craft beers were on offer along with a reasonably priced Children’s menu that offers things beyond the typical chicken tenders and mac n cheese. In fact, our kids had a beautiful piece of salmon with veggies and rice for $7.99.
Make reservations and don’t dress like a total slob in sneakers and shorts – not because they won’t let you in, they will, but because I might be sitting next to you an will mock you behind your back.
