From the top hat-wearing valets to the cool elegance of the lobby, there is nothing quite like a stay at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. This hotel is a beautiful grande dame whose rooms recently underwent a refurbishment (which is a nice word for facelift, but we all need a little fluffing and tucking now and again). Close to Union Square, walk down the hill to satisfy your shopping desires, but take a taxi (or Uber!) back up the hill or be prepared to hate yourself about halfway up. The only reason I rated this hotel 4.5 instead of 5 stars is because that hill is no joke. Other than that (and perhaps I just need to do a few more squats and quit my bitching), this is a gorgeous property in a beautiful building and should be a bucket-list hotel for anyone looking to live it up in San Francisco.
