Eataly Rome, Lazio, Italy

Imagine Apple opened an Italian food & wine store & you'd have Eataly. Perfetto!

[This review is for the Rome store and is adapted from my previous review of the one in Milan].

It’s not often a shop is worthy of a review on a site like this, but Eataly is truly sensational. I visited the their flagship store in Rome, there’s a few others throughout Italy and in other major cities. It’s a outside the city centre, but is easily accessible by the underground or a cheap cab.

Inside there are three giant floors, all spaciously proportioned, which stock all the Italian food and drink you could ever want. It’s got extensive authentic ranges of pasta, chocolate, meats, olive oil, canned goods and many more. And there’s a whole floor just for wine. (The wine I got, all fairly cheap, was amongst the best I’ve ever had).

Moreover, throughout the store there’s several small restaurants which charge mall food court prices, but serve gourmet standard food. So definitely plan to eat there too. Or if you’re cheap you can just wander around indulging in the copious samples available throughout the store.
