Niagara Falls is a place that I have been to often. And I have never wanted to spend the night. Don’t get me wrong, the falls are amazing and the Maid of the Mist is a must do. But the rest of Niagara Falls has always struck me as a poorly capitalized Reno….crappy carnival midway style attractions and bad food….in fact, it is a city that appears to be populated entirely by carnies.
That being said, if you find yourself having an overnight stay in Niagara Falls the only place you should stay is the Sterling Inn & Spa. No, it does not have a view of the falls but you will have seen them already, nor does it have heart shaped tubs….thank God.
What it does have is history and design sensibility that makes you forget that there is an Alien Encounter and Ripley’s Museum just down the road. Housed in a former milk factory, the redesign of this place into a boutique hotel is just genius. Beautiful spaces, great linens and a breakfast delivered to your door in the morning.
