I love to spa. I’m a princess – I’ll admit it. And this is my castle – the ultimate destination in Vancouver is the Fairmont Pacific Rim (or Pac Rim for the well-heeled) and their Willow Stream Spa is a place of luxury, rest, and relaxation at the edge of Vancouver’s Coal Harbour.
From the wood and marble corridor welcoming you to the reception area, you’ll get the highest quality treatments in beautiful setting. The highlight of any spa day is to lounge on their outdoor “rooftop” patio which overlooks the Vancouver convention centre, its living roof of grasses, through to Canada Place and the cruise ships at port. Even on chilly days one can cover up in their blankets and feel the warmth of the gas-lit fireplaces at various lounging spots (my favourite are the large rattan lounge seats built for two) outside. There are hot tubs and an infrared sauna as well as indoor lounge areas replete with teas, infused water, and healthy snacks (go to the co-ed lounge…they have the sweet roasted nuts. I may have had a few cups).
Another treat is their spa shower – the door locks for your privacy. I admit I was confused by the wall iPad that controlled the shower settings – do I want to be ‘refreshed’ or ‘invigorated’? What? Nevertheless, my shower was absolute heaven and I almost didn’t leave except my girlfriend wanted to use the shower after me. Womp womp.
It’s a bit of a pricey spot – but save those pennies and treat yourself. Spend hours there. You’ll be refreshed AND invigorated.
