Sao Paolo is a pretty city. Meaning it’s pretty industrial. And unless concrete, grafitti or barbed wire are your things, you probably won’t find a lot of creative photo ops in the city proper.
We were very lucky to be escorted by some locals to Embu das Artes. an artists colony on the outskirts of Sao Paolo. This is a charming village of artisans, a historical church, street vendors and street food. A great place to pick up a handcrafted painting, wood sculpture or other souvenir that you won’t regret when you get home.
Note of advice: Try and get the vendor to ship it to you at home…I ended up with a wooden sculpture of a bird representing the Holy Spirit that we couldn’t get the hotel to ship, and wouldn’t fit through the Xray machine or in the overhead bins for the plane right home…but we did get home safe, maybe because of our guardian.
