An inland salt water lake, The Ocean Hole is a mile from the coast, but follows tidal patterns and teems with sea creatures. Former Windemere resident Jacques Cousteau attempted to find the hole’s connection to the sea during his time here.
No fishing is allowed, but visitors may swim and feed the fish. Its is fun to jump into and explore but I would have a raft or swim tube for little ones as there is no bottom to stand! There is a rope to help you get out when the tide is low. We stayed about an hour there and then continued our adventure south the the southern most point of the island.
